Each season begins by conducting market research through aspirational and competitive shopping, attending trade shows, collecting data from trend forecasting services and meeting with vendors. Trends and other sources of inspiration are compiled to start building the concept.
Research + Inspiration
2. Color
I then create a color palette based on color forecasting services, known best selling colors, and validate them with market research.
3. Mood
Next, the seasonal mood and trend is more clearly defined and prepped to show leadership. A concept rig is assembled with store-bought samples and early prototypes in order to convey what the collection will look like.
Simultaneously, I work with the Print and Pattern team to begin artwork and graphic development for the season. Once artwork is signed off on - it is sent out for strike-off’s and samples.
4. Print + Pattern
Key Fabrics for the season are sourced and put into development based on market trends. The key items defined here are the most exciting looks for the season and will be shared with editorial team to help market the collection later on down the road.
5. Key Items + Fabrics
Based on Line-plan and new items, styles are sketched into in 2D using Illustrator, and then converted into 3D using CLO / Browzwear. Garments are then fit and proto’s are requested via tech packs. Fit adjustment are made to fine tune garments and then revised samples are put into work.
6. Sketching
As sketches come together, I ensure pieces outfit together from head to toe while addressing customer needs. Styles are mapped out on racks to show how pieces should be merchandised in store. Once samples are ready, the collection is presented to leadership and merchants place their buys, sending styles into production stage.
7. Merchandising + Marketing
